Completing your college education is no small task. The discipline involved, the commitment, the sacrifices. While there are so many things to celebrate, there are plenty of things to worry about and get in order as a new grad, too: getting a job, finding an affordable place to live, paying off student loans, and upgrading to a more reliable car.

Believe it or not, no matter what your starting salary is — or even if you're still eagerly awaiting that first job offer — you can get a brand-new car. One that's within budget and that's pretty stylish, too.

At your local Nissan dealership, you’ll find several affordable models that are well-suited to newly-minted grads. These vehicles offer a combination of excellent fuel economy, a wide range of top-tier technology and driver-assist features, and strong predicted reliability ratings. Grads, meet your next vehicle.

Nissan Sentra: The Efficient Workhorse

700 × 361

If your primary concerns are reliability and affordability but you still want a sleek new car, the 2020 Nissan Sentra should top your list. The Sentra was redesigned and is all-new for 2020. Some of the new-this-year highlights include a more powerful and fuel-efficient engine; the addition of newly-standard technology features; a more modern, upscale interior; and sleek new exterior styling.

A 7" infotainment system comes standard, as does Nissan's Safety Shield 360, a package of six driver-assist features that includes blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking. The Sentra gets 29 mpg on city streets and 39 mpg on the highway, plus it has a spacious backseat and decent amount of trunk space. Whether you're commuting to work or road-tripping with friends, the Sentra is up to the task.

Nissan Leaf: The "Green" Commuter

794 × 440

The all-electric 2020 Nissan Leaf is an excellent option for those who prioritize affordability as well as sustainability. Kelley Blue Book gave the 2020 Leaf its Best Electric Vehicle 5-Year Cost to Own Award — for the third consecutive year. The Leaf has a range of 149 miles on a full battery charge, but the Leaf Plus models offer a range of up to 226 miles.

New for 2020, the Leaf's infotainment system was upgraded to 8" and now has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, plus the Nissan's Safety Shield 360 suite of safety and driver-assist features is now standard. There is a surprisingly large amount of leg- and headroom in the backseat for passengers, plus top-of-its-class cargo capacity.

As an extra pair of incentive, there's a federal tax credit available for EVs and Nissan offers an exclusive Leaf Vehicle Purchase Program and offer for students at select colleges, including the University of Alabama Birmingham. Find out if your school participates in the Leaf VPP here.

Rogue Sport: The Do-it-all-er

?700 × 378

Having earned the Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy Award in the subcompact crossover class for the third-straight year, the 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport is an ideal vehicle for those who want the best of all worlds — on a budget. The Rogue Sport offers an excellent fuel economy of 25/30 mpg, but with the cargo capacity and flexibility of a full-size SUV. It's slick, too, with an exterior redesign and two new color options for 2020.

The Rogue Sport has done well in industry safety ratings, receiving four stars overall from the NHTSA and the highest possible rating of "Good" in overall crashworthiness from the IIHS. Nissan Safety Shield 360 comes newly-standard in 2020, as does a 7" touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, making it exceptionally well-equipped in comparison to its competitors.
